Breast development begins between 9 to 14 years of age in females, and the development of the mammary glands, connective tissue and adipose tissues is completed depending on genetic and hormonal factors.

Breasts, the symbol of motherhood and femininity, are one of our most important organs emphasizing the aesthetic of the body. Breast augmentation surgery to increase the size of breasts that are small due to genetic reasons or to make breasts more proportional to your figure will give you an attractive appearance and will completely eliminate the difficulties you face in choosing and wearing clothing. As Apex Clinic, we contribute to restoring self-esteem with breast augmentations performed by specialist surgeons at our hospital.

Breast augmentations can be performed on patients aged 18 and above without any conditions that may impact the procedure in cases where breasts have gained a hollow and softened appearance due to weight gain/loss or due to the loss of firmness of the breasts after childbirth and breastfeeding.

In patients over the age of 40, breast ultrasounds and mammograms are evaluated prior to making a decision for the operation while in individuals over the age of 50, breast augmentations can be performed as long as their health permits.

At our hospital, breast augmentation surgery performed with general anesthesia lasts 1.5 to 3 hours , with an incision made in the crease of the lower part of the breast, around the nipple or in the armpit to insert the implant. The incision site may vary depending on the wishes, anatomy, type and size of the implant to be inserted and the preference of the surgeon. The structure of the breast and rib cage, height, weight and body measurements of the person are factors that should be taken into consideration when determining the size of the implant. The implants used in breast augmentation procedures are divided into two groups: round and contoured.

Patients who will undergo breast augmentation surgery should stop using blood thinners, smoking, and drinking alcohol and herbal teas prior to surgery.

At the end of the surgery at our hospital, the breasts are wrapped in dressing, the patient can stand up within a few hours and is discharged one day after the operation. Post-surgical pain will end on day 2 and the pain will be managed with painkillers.

Stretched breasts will lose tightness over time, and swelling and discoloration will disappear within a few days. The incision scars formed during surgery will take their final form in about a year and will return to your normal skin color.

After the operation, the patient should avoid sports such as tennis and swimming. These sports strain the chest muscles. The patient should not lift heavy objects for 3-4 weeks after the operation, should not lift their arms unless necessary, and should not drive for the first week.

The patient should avoid sweating for the first 15 days after surgery, protect the breasts from direct sunlight for 4 to 6 weeks, and use a non-wired bra for 3 months. The patient can shower 3 to 5 days after surgery. The patient may use plasters and ointments to help heal the incision scar. Sexual intercourse should be avoided for 1 week after the operation and breasts should be protected from impact and contact for 6 weeks.

As a result of research conducted at universities over many years, implants used in breast augmentation surgery have not been found to cause breast cancer and do not prevent breastfeeding. However, it is recommended that the patient who has undergone breast augmentation surgery does not become pregnant within 6 months after surgery to complete recovery.
