Tummy tuck surgery, which is more common among women, is a cosmetic procedure performed to eliminate deformities in the abdominal region due to excessive weight gain/loss and physiological changes experienced during pregnancy. Abdominoplasty is commonly referred to as a “tummy tuck”. The aim of the commonly performed tummy tuck surgery is to achieve a toned appearance. At Apex Clinic, it is possible to achieve a tones appearance with a full tummy tuck performed by specialist surgeons at our hospital.
A full tummy tuck is not suitable for individuals under 18 years of age. Liposuction is frequently used during this surgery which generally lasts 2 to 2.5 hours.
During full tummy tuck surgery, sagging, stretch marks and adipose tissue are removed from above the navel and the area between the groin and abdomen. Loose abdominal muscles are tightened and skin is stretched. During surgery, the incision is made such that the surgical wound remains under the underwear.
Any conditions that may hinder the operation to be performed at our hospital are checked by an anesthesiologist and necessary blood tests are performed.
At our hospital, patients that undergo full tummy tuck surgery can eat and walk 4 hours after the operation. However, the patient will have to walk hunched over for a while due to tightness in the abdominal region.
Patients who undergo full tummy tuck surgery at our hospital, Apex Clinic, are discharged within 1 to 2 days. The patient can shower 1 to 2 days after surgery. Problems such as edema and swelling that may occur at the operation site take 2 to 3 weeks to heal. The painkillers given will be sufficient since there will not be as much pain as thought following full tummy tuck surgery. However, a compression garment should be used after a full tummy tuck. Light exercises can be done easily over time.
