We all want a good-looking nose, which is the gateway of oxygen for survival and is also our most prominent sensory organ in the characteristic structure of the face. A large, crooked, malformed nose will surely affect our appearance and will also have negative effects on our mental health. It should be remembered that rhinoplasty not only enhances physical appearance but can also provide a healthy nose structure for breathing comfortably. An unhealthy nose can cause problems such as headache, chronic fatigue, snoring, and sleep disorders. All these problems may be resolved with rhinoplasty procedures performed at our hospital Apex Clinic.
Rhinoplasty performed for health and aesthetic purposes is a surgical procedure involving reducing nose size, lifting the nose tip, and removing the nasal septum (deviation).
With rhinoplasty, which can be performed open and closed in people that have suffered an accident or are suffering from health problems such as diseases; genetic factors; congenital causes of difficulty breathing; nasal congestion or fracture; difficulty in speaking; severe snoring or inability to smell, it is possible to change the shape of the nasal ridge or tip of the nose, reduce or increase nose size, shrink the size of nostrils, change the angle between the nasal root and forehead or between the nasal tip and lips, and eliminate problems such as polyps, sinusitis, nasal concha and nasal septum deviation that cause problems in breathing.
At our hospital, rhinoplasty which is performed from the age of 18 years may not give satisfactory results when performed at advanced ages such as 45 to 50 years.
As Apex Clinic, we take a photograph of the patient before surgery at our hospital and create a simulated image of the expected surgical outcome on the computer, then with the patient’s consent, the procedure will be performed under anesthesia, with an average duration of 1-3 hours.
The patient should stop smoking, drinking alcohol and using blood thinners at least 1 week before surgery.
For the shape of the nose to fully settle, and in order to maintain the durability of the nose and reduce swelling that may occur after surgery, a buffer or silicone will be placed in the patient’s nose and plaster will be placed on the nasal bridge.
The shape sculpted during permanent surgery does not change, but it takes 6 months to 1 year for the nose to take its full shape.
If people who undergo rhinoplasty are not satisfied with the shape of their nose after surgery, they have to wait 6 months for a second operation.
Swelling and bruises that may occur after the operation begin to subside within 48 to 72 hours. It is possible to reduce swelling and edema by applying ice.
In rhinoplasty, if buffers are inserted into the nose, the patient may be discharged 1 to 2 days after surgery and if silicone is inserted, the patient may be discharged 5 to 6 days after surgery. The sutures placed at our hospital are removed within 7 to 8 days, but the plaster is removed on day 7 or 8.
After the surgery, the bandages applied during surgery should be kept dry and will be removed after one week; the patient should be kept away from steam; the nose area should be cleaned with special lotions after the bandages have been removed; sports and physical movements should be avoided; and excessive movement of the face should be avoided. In addition, teeth should also be brushed with a more delicate and slower motion after surgery. If the patient who has undergone surgery uses contact lenses, then the patient should not wear contact lenses for 5 days. Whereas, patients who wear glasses should not wear glasses for 2 months.
